Keith Miser
The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs plans, directs, and coordinates the student services programs of the University of Hawai`i at Hilo with innovative and proactive programs and services for students and prospective students.
Among his many other responsibilities, the Vice Chancellor:
- develops long- and short-range goals, objectives, and plans for the Student Affairs Division which respond to the needs and requirements of students
- directs activities related to the recruitment, advising, counseling, and selection of students for admission into the University
- organizes, directs and coordinates all programs related to student government, residence life, and student clubs and organizations; career planning and placement counseling services; financial aid; student registration, collection and maintenance of student records, including the evaluation of such records for graduation; preparing, producing, and presenting analytical reports.

Dr. Keith Miser has been Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at UH Hilo since July 2000. He came to Hawaii after many years of administration and teaching at other, larger institutions. From 1988 to 2000, he was Vice President for Student Affairs at Colorado State University, where he was also a member of the graduate faculty in the School of Education. An active believer in international cooperation, Dr. Miser was able to develop links between Colorado State University and the National University of Belize, an association he continues to support. He served as Dean of Students and Associate Vice President for Administration at the University of Vermont from 1975-1988, and taught in the graduate program there. Dr. Miser received his Ed.D. in Higher Education from Indiana University.
