• Blake McNaughton - A Biological and Social Examination of Opelu (Decapterus spp.) Fisheries in West Hawaii, Hawaii Island
  • Used a GPS to mark off study site
  • Created a map that illustrated sample sites, using ArcGIS


• Michelle Noelani Norman - An Invasive Producer (albizia) and Predator (coqui frogs) Alter Decomposition Processes in a Hawaiian Tropical Forest
  • Used a GPS to get coordinates of study site
  • Created a map that illustrated study sites, using the ArcGIS


• Junichi Sugishita - Habitat Use by Hawai'i 'Amakihi (Hemignathus virens) in Low-Elevation Suburban Habitat on the Island of Hawai'i: Neighborhood and Local-Scale Perspectives
  • Used the Trimble GeoXT to establish stations, in order to obtain accurate locations of census station
  • Created a map using ArcGIS 9.0 and data gathered from the Trimble GeoXT
  • Used GPS Pathfinder Office to post-process raw GPS data for differential correction
  • Used Leica Laser Locator to precalibrate distance estimates
  • Used IKONOS imagery to determine land covers and to create a map
  • Used ERDAS Imagine 9.0 to process the IKONOS imagery
  • Calculated the total percentage land cover for each class using ERDAS Imagine 9.0
  • Identified housing density, which was used as a development variable, using ArcGIS 9.0
  • Measured tree heights using Leica Lasor Locator


• James Tait - Variation of Sediment Trace Elements and Stream Nirate Isotope Ratios with Land Use in the Waiulaula and Hilo Bay Watershed, Hawai'i Island, Hawai'i
  • Used a GPS to mark off sample sites
  • Created a map that illustrated sample sites, using ArcGIS
  • Used ArcGIS to determine teh overall watershed for each site
  • Used ArcGIS to determine land cover distribution within each zone


• Simona Vaduvescu - Development of a Passive Diffusive Sampling Device for Time-Integrated Assessment of Atrazine in Hawaiian Streams
  • Used a GPS to figure out where and how to get to her study sites
  • Mapped study sites using a GPS
  • Created a map that illustrated sample sites, using ArcGIS


• Miyako Warrington - Monitoring Coqui Frogs (Eleutherodactylus coqui) Populations Using Sound Pressure Levels
  • Used a GPS to get recording/study sites
