BA in Geography, Humboldt State University, California, emphasis in physical environment and cartography. MA in Geography, University of Hawai`i at Mānoa, emphasis in cultural ecology, food security in west Africa.

Native of California. Resident of Hawai`i Island since 1978. Former Peace Corps Volunteer (Lesotho, southern Africa). User of the Sun for most home energy requirements. Home gardener.
