Narrator: Work with your community organization, church group or other organization. You can invite a representative from Civil Defense or the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory to come out and speak to your group. Representative: You know I think we should call Don, where you can get some answers a little faster. Why don't I call him ok? Man: Oh, ok. Narrator: The representative can talk about lava flows and can help you to make plans so you'll be prepared for future eruptions. Representative: Yeah, 7:30 will be fine. Man: Great! Representative: Hey Don! Hey how are you doin? I'd like you to meet some volunteers from the community association, this is Judy. Judy: Hi Mr. Swanson. Representative: This is Robert. Don Swanson: Hi Robert. Robert: Nice to meet you. Representative: And this is Auntie Lita. Auntie Lita: Dr. Swanson very nice to meet you! Don Swanson: It's a real pleasure, a real pleasure. Don Swanson: This is an opportunity to discuss the lava flow hazard zone that you are living in. This is the perfect time because the volcano isn't very active now. Usually people come to us when it is too late. So now what I can do is to show you what kind of lava flow hazard that you are living in, what hazards you can expect from that particular zone and most importantly how you can deal with these hazards to minimize their impact on you and your property.
