If the computer needs to be rebooted or if the power has gone off, you may need to restart the computer. The computer is located behind the gray door below the X-RAY Amplifiers (to the left of the SEM Console).
1. Reset the Interface Controller Box, if needed.
- If there is a high piercing noise, it is an alarm from the Advanced Microbeam interface controller box (a large black box at floor level). This is located behind the door to the left of the computer. Open the door and take the mechanical pencil sitting on top of the controller box. On the front face you will see a small panel at the left called the system status. Just above the far left LED lights is a small hole that is partially iluminated by the red LED light. Stick the pencil in the hole and gently push the small reset button. This will turn off the alarm.
- If for some reason the interface controller box is not on, open the front panel by pulling on the handle above the keyhole. Flip the power switch on and close the door.
2. Boot the Computer
- Open the door to the computer. In the middle of the computer are two buttons. Push the upper button to start/restart the computer. The computer will begin to boot up.
3. Login
- When the Windows Operating System is loaded you will get a message to hit control + alt + delete (all three keys at the same time) to log on. You might also get a message that says "One or more systems failed to load at Startup". Just click OK and leave a note that this happen.
- After hitting control + alt + delete, the login screen will come up.
- Type in the password and proceed to the Starting Up JoyWin instructions.
