TURNING ON THE HIGH VOLTAGE POWER AND CHECKING BEAM SETTINGS

** Move to the Brass Saturation Spot **

1) X-RAY Amplifier (Detector High Voltage)

• Turn on X-RAY Amplifier (Detector High Voltage) on the X-RAY console.

2) Gun High Voltage

• Make sure that the kV buttons on the SEM console are set to 0 kV.
  
  
• Turn on the Electron Gun Power Switch
  
  
• Incrementally raise the kV by depressing the 5, 10, and 15 kV buttons sequentially.
  
  
• NEVER JUMP kV BUTTONS.

3) Beam Unblanked

• Check that the Beam Blank Button is in the out position and not lit up brightly.
  
  
• Do not use the physical beam blank button, use the button in the computer.

4) Raster Size

• Make sure that the Raster Size knob is set to point.

5) Beam Size

• Check the OBJ Lens Current knob, it should be roughly between 3.5 and 4.
