SHUTTING DOWN THE MICROPROBE

**** IMPORTANT

  • Get a large screwdriver from the tool drawer in the cabinet beneath the book shelves (upper right hand drawer).
  • Then go behind the probe and look for the two large vacuum hoses (clear hoses with springs inside) coming thru the outside wall.
  • Go to the second hose that says break vacuum on it and use the screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp attaching the hose to the copper pipe in the wall.
  • Then gently work the screwdriver between the hose and the copper pipe until you hear a sucking sound (this is the vacuum in the hose being released).

If this is not done, oil from the pump outside is sucked into the tubes and into the diffusion pump, which is very costly and time consuming to fix.
