Natural Hazards in Hawai`i– Meet the Experts
For June of 2010, the UH-Hilo Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes (CSAV) is offering Natural Hazards Seminars on Oahu at NO COST to the public! CSAV received a grant through Civil Defense to cover the costs of the seminars. Subjects covered: Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and Hurricanes.
The seminars cover the science behind each natural hazard, the impacts of those hazards on our State, and ways residents can mitigate effects of these natural hazards.
Each program runs from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon. Light refreshments will be served.
Each seminar will be held at the McKinley High School campus, EXCEPT for June 1st, which will be held at HIGP 110 on the campus of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Parking for HIGP is available in the Quarry Parking Lot, a short walk away, for a fee.
