Puu Oo Fountain, Hawaii (#1)

During the first phase of the Puu Oo eruption of Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii, high lava fountains, 300 to 400 meters high, lasting about a day, were interrupted by dormant periods lasting about a month. This long-lasting eruption on the east rift of Kilauea began in 1983 and was still continuing at this time (February, 2001).
