| We encourage you to make your flight reservations early, especially your
interisland reservations to the Island of Hawai`i.
If your initial destination point is O`ahu or any other island other than the Island of Hawai`i, please remember to make an additional reservation on an interisland carrier (Hawaiian or Aloha airlines) to the Island of Hawai`i. Interisland seats fill up quickly, and we encourage you to make your reservations early! Do not expect to be able to make such a reservation after you arrive on O`ahu or another islandthe number of interisland flights have been significantly reduced recently, so you may not get a connecting flight to the Island of Hawai`i if you wait until the last minute. |

Hawai`i's Weather Information
provided by: Hawaii Weather Today (http://hawaiiweathertoday.com)
The Big Island is a natural wonder. Visitors here will find everything from stony deserts, to tropical forests, to high alpine zones. The Big Island in fact offers an opportunity to experience 11 of the world's 13 climate zones. The island is still a work in progress with Kilauea adding to and reshaping it every day; the volcano even has an effect on weather.
Because Hawaiian weather varies very little throughout the year, the weather you'll experience on the Big Island depends more on location than time of year. The wide variety of climates and the resulting range of temperatures and rainfall across the island are mid- to low 70's (23.9-26.1 C) during the winter months of November to April.
Hilo
"Often referred to as the "Bay City", or the "City of Rainbows", Hilo's reputation comes from its lush tropical environment and an abundance of rainfall. Historically, Hilo was the government and commercial trade center of the island and it served the flourishing sugar plantations - the main industry of early Hawai'i.
Today, as one travels the Hamakua coastline, the sugar cane fields have now been replaced with macadamia nut trees, papayas, bananas, and tropical flowers - all of which are part of Hawaii's diversified agricultural profile. Hilo is noted for its heart-shaped anthuriums and hundreds of varieties of orchids...don't miss the chance to stop by the "Farmer's Market" to view the splendor of the tropical flowers.
Hilo's quaint appeal still draws nostalgic attention and continues to be the "gathering place" for the east side of the island. Vintage wood framed and stucco buildings, many dating from the turn of the century, give way to a feeling of history that dates back to the early 1900s.
With the expansion of the University of Hawai'i-Hilo, this small college town hosts an international academic community of over 3,000 students from Hawai'i, the US mainland and throughout the Pacific."
