1. A calculator is advisable to have. If you don't already have one, you should
purchase one that can handle exponential notation and logarithm calculations.
2. There will be 5 point quizzes given on an almost daily basis, almost every lec-
ture session. There will 30 of these quizzes for a total of 150 points (25%).
There will be NO MAKE-UPS!
3. There will be no exams given. MaxiQuizzes will be given at the end of each
chapter. MQ's will be 25 points for a total of 350 points (50%). These MQ's
will be mandatory. There will be no MAKE-UP MaxiQuizes!
4. The Final Exam will be worth 150 points or 25% of your overall grade. The
Final Exam is an ACS standardized exam and is cumulative for the entire year
of Organic Chemistry. The Final must be taken on or before the date designat-
ed in the Schedule of Classes, Wednesday, May 8, at 9:40 AM.
5. Your overall grade will be based on items 2.- 4.
30 Quizzes = 150pts. A = 534-600 pts. (89-100%)
12 Maxi-Q = 300 pts. B = 468-533 pts. (78-88%)
Final = 150 pts. C = 360-467 pts. (60-77%)
D = 300-359 pts. (50-59%)
TOTAL = 600 pts. F = <300 pts. (<50%) 6. We will be covering the rest of the text starting from Chapter 17, time permit- ting. A tentative schedule is printed on the back. 7. The last day to withdraw without penalties is Friday, February 23. Be sure to notify me if you decide to withdraw. 8. You will be graded on a straight A F scale with no + or .
