Membership with the University Canoe Club is open to any student or faculty/staff member of UH Hilo or HawCC. However, for the safety of all involved, you must be able to swim (a swim test is required for participation). All paddling equipment is provided by the club, so all you will need is sunblock, drinking water, and a good attitude! Membership fees are charged every semester as follows:
Membership dues per semester:
Students: $5.00
Faculty/Staff: $15.00*
* fee applies to RCUH and University Park staff
If you are interested in joining, contact Marta deMaintenon at 933-3092 or email her at demainte@hawaii.edu. You may come down to the UCC halau on bayfront at the start of semesters and tell us you want to join the canoe club! Check the Practice Schedule for practice times and the Find Us section to see where we are located. Forms are available online from the Forms page.
Community & Alumni
Community and UH Hilo and HawCC alumni who have paddled a full regatta season with any competitive canoe club, or who have completed a UH Hilo Fitness for Life paddling class are invited to join UCC. Semester dues are $45.
Note to Faculty, Staff, & Community:
During peak participation periods (especially in early fall), priority will be given to student members when filling crew seats.
