SummerAi-Hilo is an intense six week for-credit studio art program. Offered to a limited number of intermediate and advanced level art students and teachers, it takes place in Summer 2013 on the campus of UH Hilo in Hawaiʻi. Apply Now
Historically, the Art Department at the University of Hawaii Hilo has attracted students who appreciate the opportunity to pursue higher education grounded within an intimately scaled program. A program surrounded by a physical environment reflecting the formidable forces of nature and a vibrant pan-Pacific cultural context.
SummerAi-Hilo establishes an innovative template for programming; research opportunity for visiting artists; and collaboration across the Humanities discipline. The program funded in part through the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation Laila Twigg-Smith Art Fund will cluster four (4) six week residencies during the 2013 summer session.
Program Dates: June 17 through July 28, 2013
- April 30, 2013: early registration closes
- May 31, 2013: regular SAiH registration closes
- Admission to the program after 5/13/2013 will be contingent upon availability of remaining program seats.
For the six week 3 credit course (includes lab fee $300):
- $1044 In-State
- $1197 Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) and Pacific Islands
- $1350 Out-of-State
Dormitory housing (if needed) is available through the Island Summer Package program and includes 3 meals Monday through Friday, limited shuttle service, and a weekly Big Island week-end excursion, $2000.
