The University of Waikato's strongest programs are accounting and finance, chemistry, communications, journalism and media studies, computer science, management, human resources, industrial relations, international business and other business, molecular, cellular and whole organism biology, and pure and applied mathematics. The university has over 14,000 students enrolled, with 2,000 of them being international students. The international students come from over 60 different countries.

With over 20,000 students enrolled, Victoria University of Wellington is a very dynamic university. There are over 3,000 international students from over 70 different countries. The university is set up in trimesters with the first trimester starting in February and ending in June, the second trimester starts in July and ends in October, and the third trimester starts in November and ends in February.
