PROJECTS UNDER CONSTRUCTION:

Campus Wide Elevator Improvements: The scope of this project is to improve seven elevators located in six UHH Buildings to comply with code requirements. The elevators in Old Student Services Building, Kanakaole Hall, Hale Kehau and the College of Agriculture will be done in Summer 2014. The works in Campus Center and Library have been completed. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Water Infrastructure Improvements: This project will provide a well, pump, transmission lines and related improvements to ensure sufficient water supply for UH Hilo planned development and fire protection needs. . The construction is scheduled from July 2012 to December 2014. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Living Learning Community Phase II: This State CIP project will add a new wing to the Hale Kanilehua dormitory for the Living Learning Community program. The construction is scheduled from November 2013 to June 2014. This is a State CIP project.

Athletic Repairs and Improvements, Phase 1: This project will include various repairs and improvements to the Athletics complex 320B – Gym and Tennis Courts. The construction of Tennis Courts is on-going, and work in Gym is scheduled for Summer of 2014. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

A/C Improvements at Campus Center: This project will repair/replace a/c system in Campus Center and related work. The construction is scheduled for Summer of 2014 & 2015. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

Food Service Equipment Replacement, Phase I: This project will be the first phase of incremental replacement of food services equipment in Campus Center. The construction is scheduled for Summer 2014.This is a Special Fund project.

PROJECTS CONSTRUCTION ON HOLD OR DELAYED:

Repairs and Renovate Old Student Services Building: This project will repair and renovate the old Student Services Building for College of Business Economics. Construction will commence after the occupants are relocated to the new Student Services Building. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

Repairs and Improvements to Old Gym: This project will provide major repair and up-grade of the Old Gym. The construction scheduled is pending available CEDM funding. (Originally scheduled in 2014.) This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

PROJECTS IN CONTRACT AWARDING PROCESS:

Campus Security Improvements – Phase 1: This project will provide improvements to campus security cameras, electronic locks, intrusion detection emergency call stations and related infrastructure. The project is in the bidding stage. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Chemical Storage: The project will provide a chemical storage near Science & Technology Building. The project is in the final design stage. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Campus Security Improvements – Phase 2: This project will provide improvements of a campus emergency operation office, and related infrastructure. The project is in the final design stage. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

PROJECTS IN BIDDING PROCESS:

Chancellor’s Building A/C Improvements: This project will replace the a/c system in the Chancellor building. The construction is scheduled for Summer 2014. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

Theater Additional A/C Improvements: This project will replace air handlers & other a/c improvements. The project is in final design stage. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

PROJECTS IN PLANNING & DESIGN:

Emergency Generator: This project will provide a number of emergency generators on the University to provide back-up electricity to major buildings and functions on campus. The project is in the preliminary design stage. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Energy Management & Improvements: This project will assess and identify energy management & potential efficiency improvements for future repair projects or performance contacting. The RFP of performance contracting is being finalized and to be issued in January 2014. This project will be paid by energy savings.

Relocation of Auxiliary Services: This project will renovate the back side of the Army Reserve Facilities for the consolidated Auxiliary Services functions. The design had begun September 2012. The construction of this project is pending availability of funding. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

Wentworth Hall Re-roof: This project will replace the existing roof of Wentworth Hall. This is a CRDM (Capital Renewal & Deferred Maintenance) project.

Hale Kehau Lead Removal: This project will remove lead containing metal roof & related repairs. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Housing Emergency Shelter: This project will provide renovation & addition to Hale Kauanoe to create emergency shelter for student housing. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Kawili Street Pedestrian Overpass: This project will provide a pedestrian overpass from University Village to Campus Center Plaza. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Panaewa Farm Traffic Safety Improvements: This project will provide turning lanes at the entrance of Panaewa Farm & related improvements. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Kapiolani & Lanikaula Streets Sidewalk & Crosswalk Improvements: This project will provide side walk on campus side of Lanikaula Street & cross walk on Lanikaula Street. This is a HSCR (Health, Safety & Code Requirements) project.

Way-finding & Signage Master Plan and Signage Design Standards: This project will provide campus signage design standards as well as way-finding & signage master plan.
