UH Hilo, College of Arts & Sciences, tenure track, general funds, 9-month appointment, to begin approximately August 2013, pending position clearance and availability of funding.

Duties

Teach 200 and 300-level courses in printmaking, introduction to the visual arts, introductory, intermediate, and advanced undergraduate courses in drawing, share in department responsibilities as student mentor, curriculum and resource enhancement, grant projects, and gallery exhibitions; advise students; engage in scholarly activities, and/or creative endeavors which contribute to the mission of the University; and perform service to the University and Community.

Minimum Qualifications

Masters of Fine Arts degree (MFA) in printmaking from an accredited college or university with teaching experience at the college level; teaching experience beyond post-MFA. Service as a “Teaching Assistant, Graduate Assistant, and Instructor of Record” is not considered creditable teaching experience for this position. Ability to provide instruction in introductory through advanced undergraduate courses in Intaglio print media; knowledge of Lithography; experience managing a print studio facility; a strong background in direct drawing processes with demonstrated ability to teach introductory through advanced levels in drawing; a working knowledge of digital and photo print media.

Desirable Qualifications

Grant writing and exhibition organization/director experience; expertise in additional fields of art studio, ability to teach introductory visual arts through modern art history; ability to address current issues in contemporary art; competence with word processing and database management.

Pay Range

Negotiable.
