Assistant Professor of Geography & Environmental Studies (83190)
College of Arts & Sciences, general funds, full-time, tenure-track, to begin approximately August 2010, contingent on position clearance and funding.
Duties: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in human geography and environmental studies/science with a focus on geographies of nature and society, sustainability studies, and development; engage in scholarly research and grant procurement; advise students; participate in departmental governance and related university and community service.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Geography or related field from an accredited college or university at time of appointment; teaching experience in human geography and/or environmental studies/science; a record of research in geographies of nature and society.
Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate additional expertise, teaching and research interests in some combination of the following: sustainability studies, development geographies, urban geographies, political ecology, environmental justice, land use planning and policy, resource management and EIS, and regional interests in Hawai`i, Pacific and Asia. The successful applicant may also contribute to the MS degree in Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science. Candidate should also demonstrate an ability to work with students and staff from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
Pay Range: Commensurate with training and experience
