Assistant Professor of Education (Educational Psychology and Distance Learning) (83049)
College of Arts and Sciences, tenure track, general funds, 9-month appointment to begin approximately August 2010. The UH Hilo Education Department provides pre-service and in-service teachers with high quality, integrated, inquiry-and-field-based professional development, serves as a resource to area educators meeting the challenges and opportunities of teaching in a culturally rich society and conducts as well as guides action research to expand knowledge of teaching and learning. The Department offers three (3) Teacher Education Programs (campus-based elementary and secondary and online secondary) which lead to initial licensure in the State of Hawai`i and a Master of Education Program toward the professional vitality of in-service teachers.
Duties: Teach campus-based and web-based courses in educational psychology and related content, supervise teacher candidates in schools, engage in scholarly work and publication, and participate in community and university service.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. at the time of appointment, documented experience in design, development and delivery of distance education courses in a web-based environment, experience with standard course ware, and a minimum of three (3) years K-12 school experience.
Desirable Qualifications: Previous university teaching experience, demonstrated ability to: establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues and schools, seek external funding with a record of success, teach research, and assessment courses.
Pay Range: Competitive and commensurate with training and experience
