Junior, Assistant, Associate Specialist or Specialist (Clinical Education Coordinator) (73281, 73327)

College of Pharmacy, general funds, full-time, tenure-track, 11-month appointments to begin approximately August 2009. The University reserves the right to hire at another rank when the selected candidate is qualified for that rank.

Duties: Assist in the design and management of a clinical pharmacy training network for Pharm.D. students for the experiential program. Develop partnerships among the diverse health care systems throughout the state and nationwide to afford students quality clinical education experiences in accordance with national standards and the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). Assist in the teaching of the didactic and experiential programs, serve as a faculty advisor for students, and serve on College and University committees. Complete specified activities assigned by the Chair of Pharmacy Practice as necessary to support the College of Pharmacy’s mission and ultimate accreditation with ACPE.

Minimum Qualifications: Junior Specialist: Degree in Pharmacy; eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Hawaii at the time of hire; one (1) year relevant experience; demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication skills and the ability to function effectively in a team environment. Assistant Specialist: In addition to the Junior Specialist as stated above; 30 credits of graduate study in a relevant field; three (3) years of experience in the rank of Junior Specialist or its equivalent. Associate Specialist: In addition to the Assistant Specialist as stated above; a doctoral degree in a relevant field; four (4) years of experience at the rank of Assistant Specialist or its equivalent. Specialist: In addition to the Associate Specialist as stated above; four (4) years of experience in the rank of Associate Specialist or its equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications: 1. Doctoral degree (e.g., Pharm.D. or PhD in a pharmacy related discipline) 2. Experience in professional clinical training related to pharmacy education. 3. Five (5) years clinical practice experience in a department/division of an accredited U.S. College or School of Pharmacy 4. Prior teaching experience in a Pharm.D. program or graduate/professional education and in precepting Pharm.D. students. 5. Successful completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency program or post-doctoral fellowship 6. Experience with curricular development, assessment and evaluation in a Pharm.D. program. 7. Knowledge of the accreditation standards of the Accreditation Council for Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE). 8. Scholarship documented by attainment of extramural research grants, manuscripts submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional forums.

Pay Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
