Accreditation: Institutional Portfolio

UHH Home > Faculty & Staff

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo is accredited by the Senior Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). In June 2004, the commission reaffirmed the university's accreditation to 2014; this ten-year accreditation is the longest accreditation period granted by WASC, an indication that the university's educational and institutional effectiveness meets and, in some areas, exceeds WASC expectations.

In March 2008, a WASC team visited campus and identified two areas of concern: institutional governance and the Ph.D. program in Hawaiian and indigenous language and culture revitalization. During 2008-2009, representatives from all parts of the university worked to address these concerns. The deliberations and products of the campus-wide task force in institutional governance are posted on the Task Force webpage.

The institutional report to WASC, prepared for the Commission's follow-up visit in October 2009, is posted below, with supporting materials.
