UH Hilo strongly supports...becoming a medical doctor.
I chose to attend UH Hilo because I love the diversity of students here and I have made a lot of long-lasting relationships with my classmates and professors.
My previous and current participation in research projects (Biodiversity survey of blood parasites in anurans from the Jingxi County Nature Reserve in Guangxi, China; Comparative study of three phytotelmic communities in Costa Rica; Genetics of the susceptibility of Native Hawaiians to type II diabetes) have stimulated my interests in biomedical research. UH Hilo strongly supports my future career goal of becoming a medical doctor.
I work for the Keaholoa STEM Program at UH Hilo as a Research Intern and a Chemistry Peer Tutor. I’ve also been privileged to serve as the President of the University Canoe Club student board for two years. The University Canoe Club organizes bi-annual regattas (canoe races) and provides great fun, in addition to relieving the stress of school!
