UNIVERSITY VISITORS

It is the policy of the Student Life Center to enable University departmental visitors to use recreational facilities during their stay.    Examples include, but are not limited to:  guest lecturers, research scientist, construction managers, performing artist.

An on-line Department Sposorship Form is being created to expedite and facilitate official visitor usage. In the interim, all visitors must provide an official letter from the senior administrator of a sponsoring department/division validating the request for Student Life Center access.  For further assistance or questions, please contact the Member Services Desk at 808-933-7626.

One of the factors that affect the policy is the length of the visit. The policies for such use are listed below:

Temporary employees and other long term visitors may purchase a Student Life Center membership for the length of time designated by the sponsoring department/division.  The fee may be paid individually or by a sponsoring department provided their assignment with the University remains current during their membership. Visitors for periods of more than one week but less than a month may contact the Student Life Center,Member Services Desk to arrange a prorated membership.Visiting students who are 18 years old may also be sponsored by a department.

Visitors for periods of a week or less are entitled to purchase only Aloha Day Passes for a fee of $5 per day.  The fee may be paid individually or by a sponsoring department.

Departments sponsoring an institute, regional meeting, performing troop, or other official UH-Hilo sponsored conferences may purchase Aloha Day Passes for an individual or group.  Departments may also purchase Aloha Day Passes for a UH-Hilo candidate for employment.  Departments who wish to pay for their attendees' recreation privileges may send the account to JV with a list of attendees to Student Life Center, Clerk/Cashier. Please give one weeks advanced notice. The Recreation Department reserves the right to deny request based on size of group, age limitations or conflicting events etc. A list will be posted at the front desk where visitors, whose name appears on the list, may enter the facility by showing a photo ID.  The spouse of a visitor is afforded the same use privileges as the visitor, providing that they are also sponsored by a department/division.   Dependents of visitors may use the facility only in accordance with the Ohana Hours Policy.
