Tutoring & Academic Support

One of the services that SSSP participants take advantage of is academic tutoring. SSSP tutors are highly regarded for their ability and knowledge in their subject areas. Many have been recommended by their instructors and their assistance have proven to make a difference for students who use their expertise. Our tutors are very good at providing help - keeping students on track, especially when students feel stuck or overwhelmed by a subject or assignment. SSSP participants can schedule appointments by calling the SSSP office at 974-7616 or stopping by the Student Services Building, room 211 - second floor courtyard.
Fall 2009 SSSP Tutoring Schedule
Tutoring is not available during final exams week & summer sessions.
SSSP Tutoring is available to only SSS program participants. Tutoring appointments are required. There is tutoring for many of the general education, lower division classes, check with the SSSP staff. Stop by the SSSP office or call 974-7616 for an appointment.

MathLab - Fall 2009 hours: Mondays - Thursdays, 9am -7pm and Fridays, 9am - 3pm.The Math Lab has FREE, WALK-IN TUTORING for all enrolled students. It is located in College Hall-Room 5. Also visit the Math Lab homepage.The MathLab has 14 computers so students can EASILY ACCESS MathCad software to complete their Calculus Labs or Physics assignments and the Internet. Tutors are qualified students majoring in Mathematics or one of the other natural sciences who have demonstrated a keen interest in math and more importantly a desire to share what they have learned with others. The COMPASS Math Placement Exam can be taken anytime during the Math Lab (CH 5) hours up to 1 hour before closing.
The Learning Center (TLC) Fall 2009 Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. TLC provides numerous services to UH Hilo, HAWCC and ESL students that include free tutoring, make-up testing, computer access and classroom support. Visit their website: http://www.hawaii.hawaii.edu/tlc
