Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- "When do incoming students register? All the classes are filling up!" Regular registration for incoming students begins on Tuesday, August 20 . Students will be able to meet with an advisor before and after registration during the week of Orientation to ensure timely academic progress. The reason why most of the classes look like they're filling up is because a most of the currently enrolled students have registered.
- "Help! I don't have an advisor!" New students are not assigned an advisor until 3 weeks into the spring semester, BUT you will be able to meet with an advisor in your major during orientation for advising and registration help.
- "I'd like to meet with an advisor right now." If you are a general (undeclared) student, you are welcome to visit the advisors in the Advising Center to prepare for registration. If you have been accepted into a major, you are also welcome to come in and discuss general education and graduation requirements, however you will need to wait until the week of Orientation to meet with a faculty advisor in your major. Almost all faculty are unavailable during summer and the holiday season.
- "I indicated on my application that I'd like to be a biology major, but now I'd like to change it to Marine Science." If you have not yet registered for classes, it's still possible to change your major without much hassle. Contact the Admissions Office at 808.974.7688 and let them know that you'd like to change your major from what was originally listed on the application.
