Application Requirements

Students applying for admission to a graduate program should submit the following:

  1. Graduate Application
  2. $50.00 Application Fee. This application fee is non-refundable, cannot be transferred to another semester, and is payable each time a student applies.
  3. One official transcript for each post-secondary institution attended (must be sent directly from the institution to the UH Hilo Admissions Office). Official transcripts from UH Hilo and UH system campuses are not necessary.
  4. Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if required.
  5. Verification of financial status (international applicants).
  6. Statement of objectives
  7. Three letters of recommendation
  8. Resume

Students holding degrees or other qualifications from countries outside of the United States please see our additional requirements admission with international credentials.

Field of Study Requirements

Each field of study may have specific requirements, which may include:

  1. Standardized test scores
  2. Special field supplemental form
  3. Interview

Depending on student demand and resources, graduate programs may start every term, only in fall or on alternate years. Please confirm that the program you want to apply for will begin the semester you want to begin attending.
