Top 20 ways to support sustainability:1)Attend UHH Sustainability Fair on Sept 4, 2009 at the UHH Campus Center Plaza,2)Join & support the UHHSA sustainability committee,3)Eat locally grown plant- based food products–meat production is one of the most significant contributors to today’s environ-mental problems. www.goveg.com/environment.asp
4)Do not buy bottled water–the production of bottled water consumes 300 times more energy than tap water.
5)Buy local products & products that support sus- tainability. Look for products that use recycled materials & have minimal packaging 6)Participate in service learning events–help yourself by helping others.For service learning opportunities, visit Campus Center Room 316.7)Walk, bike or ride the bus – reduce your carbon footprint & stay healthy.
8)Reduce/Reuse/Recycle–paper,plastic,glass,metals, cell phones & computer waste 9)Save energy–turn off lights, unplug chargers & use energy-saving light bulbs 10)Save water–reduce dishwater use & take shorter showers 11)Pick up trash everyday–pick up at least one piece of trash a day even if it is not your's 12)Compost your food–convert your organic waste into soil to grow food. 13)Get Involved-attend community meetings & sustainability events 14)Do not print paper unless you have to & print dble-sided–reduce paper waste by writing/editing on a computer before printing 5)Find new uses for old things–use an old bag to carry groceries 16)Donate your unwanted things–one person’s waste is another’s treasure 17)Calculate your carbon footprint & take action to reduce it.
