Dr. Michael West Talk at `Imiloa

Hilo residents will enjoy learning about the world’s largest telescopes and plans for the next generation of “giant” telescopes from astronomer Dr. Michael West at his talk titled “With the Eyes of Giants” to be presented in the `Imiloa Astronomy Center planetarium on Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m.
West’s will tell about astronomers’ quest to build a new generation of extremely large and powerful telescopes. Such telescopes, which will begin operation in the next decade, promise to revolutionize humanity’s understanding of the universe and our place in it by allowing astronomers to see farther and more clearly than ever before.

Special Restrictions: Admission for the talk is $5 for members, and $8 for the public. Seating is limited. Tickets may be purchased in advance at ‘Imiloa or by calling 808-969-9704 (MasterCard and VISA accepted). Tickets may also be purchased before the 7 pm talk based on availability.
