Wayfinding Educators Workshop

Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 8am to 3pm

@ `Imiloa Astronomy Center

'Imiloa Astronomy Center invites educators to participate in an all-day workshop on Polynesian wayfinding on Tuesday, March 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This workshop, which focuses on the techniques and skills practiced on Hawaiian deep sea canoes, provides an excellent opportunity for educators to learn with crew members from Hawai'i’s voyaging community. Participants should come dressed comfortably and ready to take part in fun, interactive activities.
Educators will take back to their classrooms practical, engaging lessons that make science and Hawaiian culture relevant and exciting to all students. Workshop participants will also have an opportunity to meet and interact with crew members from Hōkūle’a’s and Alingano Maisu’s 2007 voyage from Micronesia and Japan.
Space is limited to 30 educators, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadline to register is March 14. The $20 registration fee covers lunch and materials provided during the workshop.
To register for the workshop, call (808) 969-9704 or email reservations@imiloahawaii.org. Include your name, event (Educators Wayfinding Workshop) and telephone number. Questions about the workshop should be directed to Ka`iu Kimura at (808) 969-9742.

Special Restrictions: Space is limited to 30 educators, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Deadline to register is March 14. The $20 registration fee covers lunch and materials provided during the workshop.
