UH Hilo hosts diversity symposium

The University of Hawai`i at Hilo, will host a diversity symposium on Monday, September 30, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Campus Center, rooms 306-307. The event is free and open to the public.
"Dialogue on Diversity" will be a forum for sharing research, promoting understanding and discussing issues ranging from culture and ethnicity to disability. The program will include a video presentation, student skit, and panels on diversity and education in addition to other topics. The aim of this special event is to strengthen the ties between diverse groups both on the UH Hilo campus and the community at-large.
Herbert Pitts, the new UH Hilo Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Director will open the event. Kathryn Waddell Takara, assistant professor of ethnic studies at UH Manoa will be a special guest presenter.
The event is sponsored by the UH Hilo Diversity Committee, Office of Student Affairs, National Student Exchange, the Department of Communication, the Humanities Division and the University of Hawai'i at Hilo Student Association.
Visitor parking passes are $2.00 and will be available at the guard booth on the main entrance off Kawili Street.
