For Immediate Release

Nicole Pasalo, a junior psychology major at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, is the second recipient of the Audrey S. Furukawa Study Abroad Scholarship.

On April 29, Furukawa presented the award to Pasalo, a Kohala High School alumna who carries a 3.96 grade-point-average. Pasalo will participate in the Semester at Sea Program during the Fall 2010 semester.

Pasalo aspires to “serve her community as an academic counselor and educator.” She expressed her gratitude to Furukawa “for creating such a wonderful scholarship that provides Hawai’i students the opportunity and support to study abroad.”

The ASF Study Abroad Scholarship was created to provide a UH Hilo student an opportunity to study abroad. The recipient must have at least a 3.2 GPA and cannot have traveled, lived or studied abroad in the past. Preference is given to Hawai'i high school graduates.
