UH Hilo offers intermediate/refresher Hawaiian language course

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo College of Continuing and Community Service is offering an intermediate/refresher level Hawaiian language class.

The course will be held on 12 Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. between February 7 to May 16 in room K112 on the UH Hilo campus. The teacher is UH Hilo graduate Mahealani Kauahi, a teacher at Ka Umeke Kaeo public charter school in Keaukaha. The cost is $70.

The course will emphasize the conversational form of the language. Each class will also include a writing activity, which could eventually develop into an educational children’s book about the Hawaiian language.
