For Immediate Release

Veteran guitar instructor and author Fletcher Epperson offers a beginning guitar class through the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS).

Sessions will be held Thursdays, January 29 to April 23, from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in UCB 102. Cost for the 12 classes is $119, plus $30 due at the first class to purchase the instructional manual. Class size is limited to eight students in order to provide the most effective instruction within a group format.

The class will cover the introduction of the guitar, chords, basic improvisation, notation and simple rhythm. Students will learn to strum and finger pick assorted blues, rock, classical and jazz songs related to the teachings.

Epperson has been giving classroom and private lessons since 1972 and is the author of Guitar Logic: Patterns for Creative Expression.
