For Immediate Release
Dr. Sabry Shehata, professor of agricultural economics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, will present his research paper, “To Label or not to Label GMO Fruits – That is the Question,” at the Society for Risk Analysis Conference. Shehata will have 18 minutes to present his findings at the interdisciplinary conference, December 7-10, in Boston, MA.
Shehata’s paper is based on a survey taken by Hawaiian producers and consumers from Hawaiʻi and Japan regarding their opinion on the consumption and production of genetically modified Hawaiian agricultural products. It discusses whether genetically-modified products should be labeled, and is an important study of consumer and producers` opinions about GMOs, risk analysis and design policy recommendations.
