Fletcher Epperson to teach beginning guitar classes at UH Hilo

Veteran guitar instructor and author Fletcher Epperson will teach a beginning guitar class through the University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS).
Sessions will be held Thursdays from 4:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m., September 4 through October 2 in PB 13-2. The cost of the class is $50 plus a $20 book fee payable to the instructor. Members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute will receive a $5 discount. Students must also bring their own guitar.
The session will cover the introduction of the guitar, chords, basic improvisation, notation and simple rhythm. Students will learn to strum and finger pick assorted blues, rock, classical and jazz songs related to the teachings.
Fletcher has been conducting classroom and private guitar instruction since 1972 and is author of the book, “Guitar Logic: Patterns for Creative Expression.”
