For Immediate Release

The Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is reinstating its two-year pre-engineering program.

“Engineers apply scientific and mathematical principles to design, create, and operate useful devices, structures or processes in an efficient and economical manner,” noted Dr. Judith Gersting, chair, computer science department. “The high technology boom has created both a need for and positions for more engineers than ever, when fewer American students are choosing to enter this highly respected, well-paid field.”

Categories of engineers include civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and system engineers.

For more information, contact pre-engineering faculty advisor Dr. John Gersting at (808) 974-7646 or johng@hawaii.edu.
