The University of Hawaii at Hilo Department of English and the Hawai`i Literary Arts Council invite the public to a poetry reading and talk by award winning creative writer Garrett Hongo on December 7, 2004 from 6-7:30 pm in UCB 100.
The author of River of Heaven and Volcano: a Memoir of Hawai‘i, Hongo is a professor of creative writing at the University of Oregon. His talk will address issues of immigration, detention, and racial “otherness” in relation to Asian American identity and experience.
