Erika Larsen awarded Tom scholarship

Nancy Tom, wife of the late former Dean of the UH Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM) presents Ericka Larsen the Annual $500.00 Frederick K. T. Tom Memorial Scholarship check as Interim Dean Jack K. Fujii observes.

Interim Dean Jack K. Fujii of the University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management (CAFNRM), recently announced the award of the 9th Annual $500.00 Frederick K. T. Tom Memorial Scholarship to CAFNRM senior Ericka Larsen.

Larsen was selected based on her scholastic achievements at CAFNRM. Larsen is from Olympia, Washington and is pursuing her B.S. degree in animal science with a specialization in pre-veterinary. After graduation, she plans to attend Washington State University, Veterinary College and plans to specialize in exotic animals and eventually work at a wildlife refuge or zoo.

The scholarship was established in 1995 in memory of the late Dr. Tom, first dean of the College of Agriculture (now CAFNRM), to assist full-time students in the completion of their studies. Tom was dean of the College from 1976 to 1981, and passed away in June 1993.
