Ikehara selected for JET Programme

A spring 2013 University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo graduate was recently selected for the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme.

Allena Ikehara, a Japanese Studies major with an English and Linguistics minor who also completed the Teaching English as Second Language Certificate, will be living in the city of Buzen-shi in the province of Fukuoka for at least a year. She will teach at 10 elementary and two junior high schools within the prefecture.

Representatives from the Honolulu Consulate General of Japan will visit UH Hilo on Monday, October 21, from 10-12:30 p.m. on the Library Lanai to promote the JET Programme. An information session is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. in the Kilohana Center (lower level of Mookini Library).
