Classes for small businesses and nonprofits offered in Kona

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) offers classes geared toward small businesses and nonprofits beginning September 7 in Kona.
Basic Grant Writing will be held on Saturday, September 7 from 9 am-3 pm. Participants will learn about the grant writing process, how to write a compelling statement of need, and learn what funders are looking for in grant proposals. Samples and handouts will be provided. Tuition is $50 plus $5 materials fee.
Fundraising for Nonprofits is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 from 9-11 am. Participants will learn the different types of fundraisers and how they can use them to supplement their budget. Tuition is $25 plus $5 materials fee.
This class will be followed by Board Development for Nonprofits from noon - 2 pm. The class will cover developing organizational policy, providing oversight to ensure the organization’s mission is fulfilled, and keeping the organization financially healthy. Tuition is $25 plus $5 materials fee.
All of the classes will be given by Jeani Navarro, who has over 30 years of grant writing experience and has helped various community organizations secure needed funding. Classes will be held in the second floor conference of the Kuakini Tower located at 75-5722 Kuakini Hwy, Kailua-Kona.
