“Whisky” is next Global Lens film
The next film in the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Global Lens international film series is “Whisky.” The film will be shown on Tuesday, February 26 at 7 pm in UCB Room 127. There is no admission charge.
Set in Montevideo, Uruguay, “Whisky” is a contemporary black comedy in Spanish with English subtitles. It travels into the world of the owner and proprietor of a sock factory trapped in a prison of day-to-day loneliness. The film premiered at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival where it won a Prix du Regard Original Award. It also earned rave reviews from the BBC, The New York Times, Variety, and many other publications.
The Global Lens film series continues in March with a different international film. Other films include Academy Award nominees for Best Foreign Language Film from Brazil and Lebanon. For a list of the films and specific dates, visit http://hilo.hawaii.edu/studentaffairs/international.
