$9 million grant boosts research statewide
July 10, 2006
The University of Hawai‘i recently received a second $9 million federal grant to increase research efforts throughout the state in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The renewed three-year award is from the National Science Foundation’s Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR).
UH Hilo Chancellor Rose Tseng is widely credited with initiating the effort to bring EPSCoR to Hawai‘i. She was principal investigator of the 2001 EPSCoR planning grant that identified key areas in need of research support.
