In overviewing the week, although a short one due to the holiday, it was nevertheless a busy and productive one. My apology for the slight delay in getting this on our web.

Thank you to the APT’s (Administrative, Professional, Technical) for getting together and raising important issues and concerns. I was very pleased to see so many of you that afternoon. We started the get together by highlighting UH Hilo’s programs, major achievements, future plans and challenges. Then we moved to hearing your concerns and suggestions on how to make things better at our University. Here is an over-all summary of the concerns APT’s raised:

Happy September!

I was glad to hear that many of you accessed our University Web and Looking Around the Corner, and thanks for the positive comments received about this feature. This is my attempt to do a weekly summary of activities

Starting up school is a very busy time. Thank you everyone for the extra hours and extra accommodations in trouble-shooting, responding to and reducing crises, and just coping with everyday challenges. Your patience and good-will make a significant difference to students, colleagues and the over-all work environment.
