UH BOARD OF REGENTS PRESENTED WITH PRELIMINARY TUITION PROPOSAL

The University of Hawai’i Board of Regents (BOR) heard preliminary tuition increase plans from the UH administration at its monthly meeting held this week at Kapi’olani Community College.

The University’s current tuition schedule ends in Spring 2006, and the new five-year schedule presented to the BOR is proposed to begin in Fall 2006 and run through Spring 2011.

What this means to us here in Hilo:
University of Hawaii at Hilo, Undergraduate Resident Students currently pay $1,236.00 per semester.

Undergraduate Resident Students currently pay $4,020.00 per semester.

If this Preliminary Tuition Proposal is approved:
University of Hawaii at Hilo, Undergraduate Resident Student Tuition will increase to: $1,524.00 in 2006-07 and to $2,676 in 2010-11.

University of Hawaii at Hilo, Undergraduate Resident Student Tuition will increase to: $4,848.00 in 2006-07 and to $8,160.00 in 2010-11.

Presidential Scholarship

The Regents of the University of Hawaii is accepting applications for the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes ten undergraduate students from the University of Hawaii system with a $2000 cash award as well as a one-time travel award of $2000 for a two-year period. Eligible applicants must be a bonifide resident of Hawaii and have a minimum GPA of 3.7. The deadline for applications is February 7th, 2005. The Zonta club of Hilo is now accepting applications for the 2005 Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business scholarships. The program is designed to encourage undergraduate women to enter careers and to seek leadership positions in the business field.
