Enrollment in a program of study abroad that is approved for credit by the University of Hawaii at Hilo may be considered enrollment at the university for purposes of a student applying for financial aid. Students considering study abroad should contact the Office of Global Education and Exchange.

Audrey Furukawa Study Abroad Scholarship

This scholarship will assist students pursuing an opportunity to study abroad, with preference given to Hawai’i high school graduates. Recipients must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and be accepted into an approved study abroad program. Interested students should contact the Center for Global Education and Exchange. The number and amount of scholarships will be based on the availability of funds.

IFSA Global Study Abroad Scholarship

Are you a first generation college student?  Do you have a 3.0 GPA?  Then, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship to help you study abroad.  Students participating in semester programs will be awarded $2,500; academic year-long programs will be awarded $5,000.  Interested students should contact the Center for Global Education and Exchange.

Semester at Sea Study Abroad Scholarship

Do you want to visit 12 countries in one semester?  Consider studying abroad with the Semester at Sea program.  Students with a 3.0 GPA, involved in diverse cultural activities, interested in contributing to a multicultural community should consider applying for this scholarship.   Interested students should contact the Center for Global Education and Exchange.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

Are you receiving a Federal Pell Grant?  Then, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship to help you with your study abroad journey, with a minimum length of 4 weeks.  You can receive up to $5,000 to help fund your study abroad experience.  If eligible, you can receive an additional $3,000 Critical Need Language Supplement.   Interested students should contact the Center for Global Education and Exchange.
