View Summer 2007 course listing.Summer 2008 course listing to be posted on January 2, 2008.The University of Hawai`i at Hilo is located on the Big Island of Hawai`i, the largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago. With a population of about 45,000 people, Hilo combines the friendly atmosphere of a small town with college-town amenities, such as shopping centers, theatres, diverse restaurants, community service organizations, and culture and arts programs. Sometimes described as a tropical mini-continent, the Big Island is endowed with pasturelands, sugarcane fields, active volcanoes, deserts, rain-swept valleys and mountain peaks adorned with winter snow. Among the UH Hilo programs is the annual Marine Science Summer Program, which combines an ideal environment, excellent curriculum, and outstanding instructors for one of the best undergraduate marine science study opportunities in the nation. In addition to the regular six-week UH Hilo summer session that runs from June 12 through July 20, a special four-week Interim Session is scheduled from May 14 through June 8. A variety of educational opportunities, credit and noncredit courses, workshops, performances, and special student activities are scheduled. On-campus residence halls provide housing for students in both dormitory and apartment-style accommodations. If you haven't registered for a UH Hilo credit course within the last six months, please submit your application form ( http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/forms/summer.php ). Additional forms are required for international students. For complete Summer Session information, contact UH Hilo for a catalog. If you are interested in the Marine Science Summer Program, ask to be placed on the mailing list to receive the marine science brochure.
