The University of Hawaii at Hilo Baccalaureate Nursing Program is proudly hosting the sixth annual Pulama I Ke Ola Healthcare Conference. This year's conference theme, "Advocacy - 'Unheard Voices' in Healthcare " will include presentations on research and practice related to holistic approaches to health care. Topics will be relevant to all healthcare providers. This year's conference partners are: American Cancer Society, East Hawaii Unit, Hospice of Hilo, Ke Anuenue AHEC, UH Geriatric Education Center, and UH Hilo College of Pharmacy.
The Conference is held on the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UH Hilo) campus. Located just a few miles from the Hilo Airport, UH Hilo is a centrally located and convenient location (see MAPS - Campus and Hilo Maps - Conference starts at UCB (University Classroom Building on the Main Campus)

Special Speaker
- Mark Clanton, MD, MPH will be speaking on Viewing Access to Care Through the Cancer Lens. He is the Chief Medical
Officer for the High Plains Division and the Hawaii Pacific Corporation of the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Clanton served as Deputy Director of the United States National Cancer Institute (NCI) from 2004-2006 and his NCI leadership portfolio included NCI’s offices, centers and divisions focused on cancer prevention, cancer control, international cancer control and health services research and cancer health disparities.Dr. Clanton’s international leadership experiences include: leading the United States Delegation to the International Agency for Cancer Research in Lyon, France (IARC) in 2006, and in 2004, the World Health Organization Director General Lee Jong-wook appointed Dr. Clanton to the WHO’s Cancer Technical Group, the body charged with writing the first Global Cancer Control Plan. Dr. Clanton also led the NCI effort to collaborate with the International Atomic Energy Commission Program of Action for Cancer Therapy program.
Dr. Clanton currently serves as the President of the Harvard School of Public Health Alumni Council
