Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program designed to foster the academic achievement and success of university students. Students from the U.S. or the U.S.-affiliated Pacific Islands who are first-generation college students (i.e., neither parent has earned a bachelor’s degree from college), or who are considered low-income, or who have a documented disability, are eligible for the program.
The program provides comprehensive support services such as academic advising, and assistance with financial aid and scholarship applications. The program also assists students in making the transition into college and monitors students’ academic progress. Peer tutors provide individual and group tutoring. Students in the program also have the opportunity to participate in cultural and academic enrichment activities, as well as in workshops focused on personal and career development and learning skills.
