General Requirements
BOSP Student Representative General Requirements:
Student members of the BOSP must be currently registered, for at least six (6) credits with UH Hilo or HawCC and in good academic standing. A person compensated in any manner for work on any publication or program under BOSP jurisdiction shall not be a Board member nor shall any BOSP member be compensated in any manner for work on any student publications under BOSP jurisdiction. BOSP members may not serve concurrently as executive officers of any other Board of Regents chartered student organizations.
Awards/Fellowships (formerly called Stipends) on the amount of $150.00 per month are currently awarded to students who volunteer their time as board members.

General Responsibilities and Duties of BOSP Officer
The Chairperson
The Chairperson will convene meetings, prepare the agenda, create BOSP committees and appoint committee members (subject to BOSP approval), be spokesperson for the Board in all matters pertinent to the Board's interest and jurisdiction, and assume other duties as directed by the Board, this Charter and Bylaws, any operating policies of the Board, and the latest edition of Robert's Rules of Order.
The Vice-Chairperson
The Vice-Chairperson will serve in the absence of the Chairperson and will assume other duties as directed by the Board, any parliament policies of the Board, and the latest edition of Robert's Rules of Order.
Assist the BOSP chair in the orientation of new BOSP members and the ongoing education of all BOSP members regarding the workings of the Board and its programs.
The Treasurer
The Treasurer will regularly review all BOSP financial records, submit to the Board monthly reports of the Board's financial statements for all BOSP accounts, and prepare the annual budget. The Treasurer will utilize the resources of the Campus Center Fiscal Officer in developing and monitoring the BOSP budget and will work closely with the Office Managers of the respective publications. In the absence of the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson, the Treasurer will serve as Chairperson. Also, the Treasurer will assume other duties as directed by the Board, any operating policies of the Board, and the latest edition of Robert's Rules of Order.
The Secretary
In the discharge of Board-related functions, the Secretary will be responsible to the Board and will act in a manner consistent with the basic philosophy of the Board as embodied in its Charter and Bylaws. The Secretary will:
Prepare and present special reports as requested by the Board.
Publish the agenda, ensure that the minutes of all Board and committee meetings are taken, and distribute both agenda and minutes to all members in a minimum of two days prior to the next meeting.
Publicly post, all regular meeting agendas and minutes two (2) working days prior to the meeting.
Maintain a master file of all minutes and documents at BOSP office.
Maintain a current BOSP job/position description file.
Assume other duties as directed and needed by the Board.
Kanilehua Literary Magazine Position Descriptions
Editor-in-Chief
The editor-in-chief is responsible for administrative duties within Kanilehua's office. Duties may include: setting house rules, formalizing staff expectations, overseeing production of quality issues, and maintaining a good working environment. The EIC is expected to know the responsibilities of everyone in the staff, as well as UHH and HawCC policies. The EIC also assists staff members in any way possible and other administrative duties as required.
Associate Editor
The associate editor is the main assistant to the Editor-In-Chief. This person is responsible to oversee the gathering of submissions to the magazine. Other duties will include running errands for the magazine and assisting the Business Manager.
Business Manager
As the business Manager you are responsible for all fiscal and financial elements of Kanilehua, which may include inventory of office supplies, staff compensation, submitting purchase orders, working to keep a balanced budget, and selling/managing advertisements for the magazine. The Business Manager also attends at least one BOSP meeting each month. He or she is also responsible to Kanilehua's Editor-In-Chief.
Graphics Editor
As the graphics editor you are responsible for all photographic and artistic submissions. You will also be in charge of converting any submitted work to usable electronic format. The graphics editor is also expected to actively engage in solicitation of submissions and he or she is responsible to the Editor-In-Chief.
Layout Designer
As the layout designer you will be in charge of designing and creating page layouts for Kanilehua. You will also be expected to actively engage in solicitation of submissions. The layout designer is responsible to the Editor-In-Chief.
