The Alumni Association is the mechanism through which University of Hawai'i at Hilo can communicate with and serve alumni, and the alumni can communicate with and serve the University.

+ How can I become a member?

All membership forms are processed by the University of Hawaii Alumni Association (UHAA), which is the Umbrella organization of the UH System. You can join the Alumni Association by calling or Faxing the Alumni Office at the numbers listed below and we'll send you a form. Or send us your name, address, phone number and year of graduation. There is an annual fee.

+ How is the Alumni Association funded?

The Alumni Association is sponsored by membership dues, fundraisers and other donations. The University funds salaries, operating expenses, telephone, postage, equipment, and miscellaneous supplies.

+ How is the Alumni Office staffed?

Alumni Affairs Director, Yu Yok Pearring reports directly to the Director of University Relations. This Alumni office is located within the Office of University Relations.

+ How is information communicated?

The UH Hilo Alumni Newsletter is published and mailed twice a year. Information is collected from a variety of sources including faculty, staff, students and alumni. The Director of Alumni Affairs serves as editor of the publication.

+ Who governs the Alumni Association?

The Board of Directors shall consist of fifteen members elected as provided in the bylaws and the immediate past president. Members represent various geographic areas and decades. The immediate past president, if the term for which he/she was elected to the Board has expired, shall be a member of the Board the next succeeding year. Vacant positions are filled by the Board based upon the recommendations of a nominating committee. The directors meet at least four times a year and serve three-year terms.
