Tara Vandiver, a senior at UH Hilo, is an English major with an emphasis on Rhetoric, Composition, and Creative Writing. She has a minor in History and is currently working towards a certificate in TESOL. She is originally from Anchorage, Alaska and has lived in the lovely state of HawaiĘ»i for just over a year now. Her loves include traveling, reading, writing, dancing, and her wonderful fiancé. After completing college, she and her fiancé plan on teaching English overseas and exploring the world. Once they have finished doing that…who knows? As long as Tara has a pen, paper, and her loved ones around her, she is happy - no matter where she is.

Jacquie Barr
Jacquie Barr is a senior at UH Hilo. She will complete her degree in English with an emphasis in composition, writing, and rhetoric in Fall 2009, as well as a earning a Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate, and a Certificate in Women’s Studies. Jacquie revels in any opportunity to become more socially and environmentally conscious, learn from societies’ mistakes, and absorb ideas for improving the future. She looks forward to earning her Ph.D. so she can experience many more generations of forward thinkers through teaching at a university level. She is grateful for this opportunity to work with this critical publication, and with a staff of such intelligent, able and hard-working colleagues.

Jenna is a junior majoring in anthropology. She has a passion for anything and everything that is foreign: language, philosophy, music, movies, and of course, food. Jenna also enjoys taking walks, sudoku, and video editing. Her future plans include studying in Taiwan for graduate work in Asian studies.

Chaun Ballard
Chaun Ballard is a senior at UH Hilo. He will be graduating in Spring of 2009 with a B.A. in Psychology; Chaun will be continuing school for another year to get his TESOL certificate. He plans on going overseas and teaching English with his fiancé – right now, he is looking into opportunities in Israel. He enjoys playing all kinds of sports (but especially basketball), spending quality time with his friends and family, learning, traveling, and being with his soon-to-be-wife.
